RUSSELL, Ruth Eileen - Ruth passed away peacefully with family by her side on April 30, 2021 after a short illness.
She was the only child of Sarah and Samuel Russell. She is fondly remembered by her great nieces and nephews, and brothers and sisters in Christ throughout the world.
Ruth was head librarian at David and Mary Thomson Collegiate from 1961-1993. She was a staff advisor to the Inter School Christian Fellowship there.
During her retirement she combined her librarian skills and her faith, volunteering throughout the world including The Black Forest Academy in Germany and most recently in Hungary.
Ruth will be remembered for her love of the Lord Jesus, participation in missions at home and abroad, working with international students, personal evangelism, and Bible studies. She loved spending time at her cottage on Sturgeon Lake where she welcomed family and friends.
A private funeral service (publicly livestreamed) will be held via Giffen-Mack Funeral Home, Danforth Chapel, followed by burial on Wednesday, May 5th.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Ruth’s memory to Scripture Union Canada or Literacy Evangelism International -Canada ( LEI).
