Nelson ConnieNELSON, Connie  - July 22, 1937 – July 30, 2021

Connie passed peacefully at Glen Hill Strathaven long-term care home in Bowmanville, on July 30, 2021, in her 85th year, with family attending, after a period of declining health.

"The darkest night that ever fell upon the earth never hid the light, never put out the stars.

It only made the stars more keenly, kindly glancing, as if in protest against the darkness ." - George Eliot Born

Constance Lorraine Cant, to Wilfrid and Alexa Cant, at home in North Battleford, Saskatchewan on July 22, 1937, she met the Great Depression at the part of the country most impacted by it.

Moving to Saskatoon in the early years, she distinguished herself at the University of Saskatchewan, obtaining the degrees that launched her career in education.

At UofS she served as editor of the Greystone yearbook.

She began her teaching career at Yorkton, SK, in 1959, and later taught in Dawson City, Yukon. In 1961, she married George Nelson in Whitehorse, Yukon.

Together they made a family including three children.

She will be fondly remembered as the editor of the St. John's Anglican Church newsletter for many years, and a steady supporter of and contributer to parish life.

For many years, she was also an active member of Toastmasters.

The family would like to thank the staff at Strathaven for their attentiveness and kindness to her.

Connie is survived by husband George Nelson, and children Leo Nelson (Mara), Trent Nelson, and Zenon Nelson (Azan).

For he shall give his angels charge over thee, to keep thee in all thy ways.

They shall bear thee up in their hands, lest thou dash thy foot against a stone. Psalm 91.
