Hibbeln SophiaHIBBELN, Sophia Louise (nee DULMERS)    -  August 2, 1927 – March 7, 2022

Sophia ("Phia") passed away peacefully, on March 7, 2022, in her 95th year, predeceased by her young son Paul in 1959 and husband Carl after 61 years of marriage.

Born in Amsterdam, the Netherlands, Phia and Carl immigrated to Canada with one-year-old son Norbert in 1957.

Loving mother to Norbert (Allison), Monique (Alex), Philip (Nancy), Carla, and Yvonne (Oliver).

Adoring Oma to Thomas, Nadia (Brady), Shane, Justin (Kathryn), Sonja, Paul, Jessica (Michael), Maya, and Haley.

Phia will especially be remembered for her vitality and how she savoured life. She had a great sense of humour and did not hold back her laughter.

Phia continually craved new experiences and expressed the desire to explore her creativity throughout her lifetime by wearing many different hats... as an artist, a photographer, a Hawaiian dancer, a longtime French student, an avid traveller, a lover of learning - reading - nature - music - the arts.

Phia also demonstrated her caring nature towards others through her volunteer work with the Aphasia Institute.

Surpassing all, however, there is no doubt in anyone's mind that her greatest love was her family.

Mom/Oma, you will live forever in our hearts, until we meet again.

A private service will be held by the family on Thursday, March 10, 2022.

In lieu of flowers, a donation made to the Aphasia Institute or the CNIB in Phia's name would be appreciated.
