Riggs RossRIGGS, Ross (William Rossiter) Riggs  -  Aged 66, who embodied that rare union of character and profession - the desire to nurture and nurse, passed away peacefully at home, November 25, 2023, comforted by his husband, Peter.

His last months were greatly enhanced by the care and patient love of his sister, Jackie, who with her husband, Gerard Broderick, along with nephew, Kevin, and niece, Megan, had flown in from Newfoundland to be by his side.

His interest in others, his concern for their well-being, combined with his sense of fun won him many enduring friendships over his 23 years as a registered nurse in Newfoundland and his 18 years at the University Health Network in Toronto.

When he came out of retirement for the second time to work at UHN's Covid clinic, he found the 12-hour shifts tolerable because of the interesting interactions with his clients and the friendships he formed with his co-workers.

For his neighbours, he was always on call, 24/7. During his final days, he expressed his gratitude for his doctors and their frontline staff, whose concern and compassion allayed so much of his anxiety.

Dr. Jason Brunetta, his family physician, Dr. Nicolae Petrescu at Michael Garron, Dr. Derek Tsang at Princess Margaret Hospital and Dr. Joshua Tepper at Women's College Hospital; they and their staff were always there for him. His funeral service will be held at the Parish of the Assumption Church, Bay de Verde, Newfoundland.

No matter where Ross lived, his neighbours became his village, his friends, his family. Ross lives on in all whose lives he touched.
