Allatt PeterALLATT, Peter David  -

1955 - 2023

Bioethicist, researcher, educator. Peter felt privileged to work with health care providers, patients, and their families for 45 years.

He was valued by his colleagues for his insight, integrity, wit, and esprit de corps.

The opportunity to teach critical thinking to the young was an enduring satisfaction.

There are not enough words to say what he meant to Barbara Mains.

Loving son to the late Doug and Jean Allatt; loyal brother to Dick (Roberta); fond uncle to Julian, Caverly, Adrian, Lindsay, and Michael. Best friend to every dog on the planet.

Peter prized his friends, who appreciated his generosity and admired his resilience. Ardent cyclist for pleasure and for charity, enthusiastic gardener and home baker.

An appalling singer, he sang constantly. Peter and Barbara thank the team who kept their boat afloat through the last six weeks.

They are grateful to St. Michael's Hospital, whose care gave Peter decades of productive life, and to the Palliative Care Unit at Hennick Bridgepoint.

If you can, please support these superb hospitals. In the spring, we will plant trees. June Callwood: "Only kindness matters.".
