Wickson EdwardWICKSON, Edward Arthur Killaly (Ted) Wickson  -   Born on March 23, 1944, to Arthur and Amy (Bowker) Wickson, passed away peacefully on January 21, 2024, in Toronto.

 

Survived by wife, Susan (Pimienta); his children, Matthew and Kaitlyn; and sister, Kathryn Carpenter.

 

Besides his parents, his first wife, Andra Valkers, predeceased him.

 

Ted worked at the TTC from 1966 to 1997 as editor of The Coupler, and as their photographer, historian, and archivist. Later, Ted worked at the City of Toronto Archives.

 

He authored Reflections of Toronto Harbour: 200 Years of Port Activity and Waterfront Development, and A Century of Moving Canada: Public Transit 1904-2004.

 

The General Synod of the Anglican Church of Canada employed Ted to photograph and compile historical sketches of their residential schools, leading to his 2008 publication, Anglican Indian Residential Schools: 1820- 1970.

 

He was an expert photographer with a unique knack for capturing the vehicle or person at just the right moment.

 

Ted leaves behind lasting friendships across the urban transit industry and beyond.

 

Ted was a pathfinder, particularly in preserving and interpreting the evolution of rail and water transportation in Ontario and beyond.

 

His contributions will long be remembered. In Ted's memory, donations may be made to a charity of your choice.
