HARRISON, Barbara Tudor (nee SMITH) - Barbara Tudor Harrison, born in Birmingham, UK, on August 4, 1930, died in Toronto on February 16, 2024.
Raised in London but evacuated during the war to Bridgewater, Barbara graduated with an Honours B.Sc. from the University of Birmingham and travelled to Hamilton, ON, to pursue an M.Sc. in Zoology at McMaster University.
There she met and married Alex. G. Harrison (predeceased 2018) who was taking his PhD in Chemistry. She qualified as a teacher and taught at Dundas High School prior to moving to Ottawa and settling in Toronto.
In Toronto, Barbara worked as a Zoology demonstrator at the University of Toronto while her two daughters were young and then embarked on a 30-year career as a potter.
Barbara and Alex enjoyed over 60 years together which included international travel and happy years with the family at the cottage on Healey Lake.
Barbara is survived by daughters, Jane Harrison and Ann Harrison; sons-in-law, Charlie Trainor and Michael Hrycusko; grandchildren, Matthew Harrison-Trainor, Emma Harrison-Trainor (husband, Michael Ribbins), Kathryn Hrycusko and Andrew Hrycusko; and great-grandson, George Ribbins.
A private family celebration has occurred.
