KEMP, Robert John -
August 4, 1931 – March 4, 2024
It is with deep sadness and broken hearts that we announce the passing of our brother, uncle, spouse and friend, Robert "John" Kemp.
John leaves behind his longtime partner, Liz; sisters, Ann Thornton and Margaret Melanson; along with many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by brothers, Donald, Victor and Murdo.
Born in Toronto, John proudly acknowledged his Scottish heritage.
He loved playing the bagpipes, celebrating Robbie Burns Day with family and friends, enjoying traditional Scottish food and music.
John was an avid and accomplished tennis player, bridge player, ballroom dancer and fitness fanatic.
He was a longtime member of the University of Toronto's Hart House, where each lunch hour he met his friends for a vigorous workout before returning to work. John's many comments and remarks, most often flavoured with his wry, dry sense of humour, were always delivered with a twinkle in his eye. They will be remembered forever.
A funeral service will be held at Humphrey Funeral Home A.W. Miles, 1403 Bayview Avenue on Saturday, March 16th at 10:00 a.m. The family is grateful for the compassionate and caring team of Toronto Western Hospital.
A big thank you goes out to Victor, his longtime caregiver
