COURTIS, Shirlene Blanche - The family of Shirlene Courtis is very saddened to announce her passing on March 6, 2024 at the St. Joseph Medical Centre in Toronto.
Although Shirlene had been dealing with various health issues for some time, the events of a very few days were unexpected.
Shirlene was born July 8, 1955 and was the youngest of five siblings, having two brothers (Kenneth, Leonard) and two sisters (Dolores, Charmaine).
After earning her B.A. at the University of Toronto, she pursued a professional career, leading fund-raising programs for a number of public sector and not-for-profit organizations which in recent years before her retirement included the Toronto Zoo and WarChild. Her extended family of in-laws and nieces and nephews was important to her.
She was especially fond of her great-niece Stephanie and of her niece Sarah and Sarah's daughters, Nahla and Anika.
And, of course, any description of Shirlene would be incomplete without mention of her love for and commitment to the several feline companions with whom she shared her life and home.
To be consistent with Shirlene's vocation, we suggest a contribution to a charity of your choice.
A private celebration of life will be held at date sometime in the late spring or early summer.
