MONTGOMERY, Charmiene Char Montgomery  -  Died peacefully at home on April 4, 2024.

She is survived by David Beattie; her three daughters, Sara, Rachel (Ryan) and Amanda (Rob); her grandson, Shaemus, and her 'amigos'.

Char was not a bandwagon jumper.

She enjoyed shucking social norms and had a relentless optimism that the underdog can do anything given the right support.

She looked forward to simple pleasures - helping run errands (especially if lunch was provided), playing bridge, or a long phone call with an old friend.

She made beautiful, practical things. Quilts belong on the bed, not on a wall. Gardens you could sit in. Friendships that withstood time. Her kids.

She loved AC/DC, the New York Jets (see relentless optimism above), library books, coffee with lots of cream and the colour yellow. She was the best mum and an even better friend.

She will be missed until the people that knew her take their last breath and probably long after because she was just that stubborn.

In lieu of flowers, Char requested donations be made to Habitat for Humanity or CNIB.

Char hated funerals and wouldn't be caught dead at one. A private Celebration of Life will be held at a future date.
