MINTY, Eileen E.  - Passed on Thursday, July 12, 2018.

Eileen Edith Minty in her 94th year, a longtime resident of Woodstock, Ontario.

Beloved daughter of the late George and Edith (nee McMurray) Minty.

Predeceased by her bother Ross and dear sister of Kenneth and his late wife Eleanor. Cherished aunt of Linda and Richard Minty and great-aunt to Nicholas and Jessica and predeceased by her great-niece Shannon Minty. She will be always remembered by her closest friends: Kathy Writt and Janice Walters.

She loved her cat and dogs she had over the years, visiting friends, Fiji and jelly beans. Eileen graduated from Toronto General School of Nursing in 1946 and later received a degree in Psychology from Simon Fraser University. Eileen was a nurse educator and ran the nursing programs at Ingersoll, Brantford and Woodstock Hospitals.

In 1973 moved to Fanshawe College where she held the chair of the School of Nursing until she retired. She was a Member Emeritus of the R.N. Association of Ontario.

Eileen was a pioneer of sorts, travelling globally when single women did not do this and buying a house when banks would not give mortgages to women. Eileen sponsored disadvantaged children around the world and made it her mission to visit them, when possible. Many thanks to Kathy Writt her caregiver and friend for over 30 years and the staff at Caressant Care.

Friends and relatives are invited to attend a graveside service at Hillview Cemetery, Fifth Ave., Woodstock on Tuesday, August 14, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. Cremation has taken place.

If desired, memorial contributions to the Canadian Cancer Society, the Heart & Stroke Foundation of Ontario or the Woodstock Hospital Foundation would be appreciated.
