van DAM-PETERS, Elisabeth 'Betsy' - (1926 - 2021) Elisabeth (Betsy) van Dam-Peters, 94, passed away peacefully on February 9, 2021 at Lakeridge Health Oshawa.

Betsy was born in 1926 in Nijmegen, The Netherlands, to Antonius and Anna Catharina Peters, the fifth of 14 children.

As a teenager she endured the war, and would often retell stories of her life during that time. After Betsy married Evert in 1957, they came to Canada to start a new life and family of their own which started a year later with the birth of their first child.

She took great pride in the accomplishments of her children and grandchildren.

Visiting Oma’s house will forever be a fond memory to her children and grandchildren; there was always a cup of coffee and speculaas cookies to be had.

We were grateful that she was able to stay in the family home up until December of 2019.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband Evert, and leaves behind her four children: Anita (Rob), John (Shelly), Liz (Paul), and Anthony (Claire); fourteen grandchildren: Christopher, Shane, Jessie, Victoria, Andrew, Erin, Tyler, Tara, Andrea, Mike, Justine, Rianne, Mackenzie, and Alison; and her seven great grandchildren: Aspen, Noa, Dylan, Blake, Paisley, Makinley and Violet.

She is also predeceased by her siblings: Thé, Antoon, Annie, Frans, Gerrie, Piet, and Doortje; and is survived by her remaining siblings: Diny, Mientje, Henk, Koos, Jo, and André and her many nieces and nephews, all who reside in The Netherlands.

A celebration of her life will be held when we can safely all be together to pay tribute to the wonderful person she was.
