RUSSELL, Benjamin Joseph   -  (April 9, 1961 – March 22, 2021).

Ben was the beloved husband and best friend of Janet, cherished son of Marcella [1998], brother of Richard [Yvonne] and Renee, brother-in-law of Donna, son-in-law of Patricia [2004], uncle of Rodger [Sue], Jazmyn and Emily [Jeremy] and friend to everyone.

He leaves behind a massive extended family who he adored and who adored him.

Ben’s energy could fill the largest room and his quick wit and smile could brighten any situation.

He loved to make people laugh and was not above playing the fool if necessary to do so. Ben’s passions included sailing, golf and travel.

Although a social animal, Ben loved the solitude of his sailboat – “Can Knot Agree” and leaves behind many friends at The Whitby Yacht Club.

He was an accomplished golfer and on the course he could be heard yelling “Who’s Your Daddy?” after an amazing tee shot.

He was the most sought-after dance partner at every wedding often leaving Janet to watch from the sidelines. Ben had incredible empathy and always thought of others before himself.

His kindness and generous spirit will be missed by everyone who was lucky enough to know him.

Ben loved a good party and when it is safe to gather again, a fitting celebration at The Whitby Yacht Club will be arranged.

Ben and Janet admired the good work of The Salvation Army, Durham Region and VON Durham,

Hospice. If you wish, memorial donations may be directed there.
