HILDITCH, Edith “Edie” (nee Ruiter) Hilditch September 14, 1929 – January 29, 2022

We are saddened to announce, Edie has passed away peacefully at Lakeridge Health Oshawa due to complications from COVID on Saturday January 29th, 2022 in her 93rd year.

She is the cherished Mother of Donna Hilditch (Stan) and Rob Hilditch (Shelley) and beloved grandmother to Casey Hilditch. Edie was predeceased much too soon by her husband Bob (1986).

Edie was the daughter of the late Albert and Elsie Ruiter.

She was born in Bowmanville and grew up on Ontario St. and was the second youngest of six children.

She outlived all her siblings Wallace (Norma), Coulson (Kay), Eileen Hearl (Reg), Vera Bate (Murray) and June Ruiter.

After her parents passed, youngest sister June went to live with Edie & Bob, where she lived until she died in 2016.

Edie and Bob raised their family on Third St and made many lifelong friends over the 40 plus years spent there.

Edie will be greatly missed by all her friends, nieces, nephews and cousins as well as Donna and Rob’s many friends who were always treated like they were family members. The last 10 years had been very difficult for Edie as she lived with dementia and had been living in long term care since 2018.

Due to COVID restrictions, there will be no service. The Family will host a celebration of life when it’s safe for us to all hug each other again.

No flowers please. Please consider making a donation to Community Care Durham.
