GILKER, Olive Renouf Gilker   -  1930 - 2022

Olive Renouf Gilker, born February 20, 1930 loved her home town New Carlisle, Quebec.

Olive passed away peacefully on Saturday, January 29, 2022 at Lakeridge Health Oshawa.

She loved living on the Gaspe Coast, she was the prime model for the famous saying, “Home is Where the Heart is”. Olive travelled to Ontario to be with her family for the 2021 Christmas season.

The travel came about due to a recent setback in health.

Born in New Carlisle to Opal Astles and Edward Lloyd Renouf, Olive was described as a Woman of God.

A woman who loved her Jesus. A Proverbs 31 woman, who was filled with joy, love, laughter, compassion and kindness. These are only a few of the traits that are used to describe her.

Olive was passionate about her Almighty Saviour, Jesus Christ, the one who saved her, brought her peace and brought her comfort from a very young age. Olive had three children, Garry Gilker, Belinda  Gilker Sommerville and Stacy Gilker Watkins.

Olive was a fiercely dedicated, tenacious and strong mother, raising her three children whom she loved infinitely.  Our family would not be where it is today if we didn’t have Olive as a mother, prayer warrior and guide.

Olive was predeceased by her sister Theresa Hagarty and brothers Wilson Flowers and Weston Renouf. She leaves behind her brother Wayne Astles and children, Garry Gilker, Belinda Sommerville, Stacy Watkins, Grand Children and Great Grand Children.

A visitation and service will be held at her previous home church, Malvern Christian Assembly 6705 Sheppard Avenue East, Scarborough (416-284-4853) on Friday, February 4th, 2022. Visitation will begin at 11am and the service will follow at 12pm. Due to Covid-19 restrictions, there is a capacity limit for attending the visiting and the service, please contact Mount Lawn Funeral Home to book a spot to attend.

In honour of Olive or in lieu of flowers donations can be made to: Fair Haven Bible Camp, 6 Beach Street, PO Box 834
New Carlisle, QC G0C 1Z0.  Cheques are to be made payable to: Fair Haven Bible Camp.  Please note  on cheque that this is in Memory of Olive Renouf Gilker.  For any questions please contact the Funeral Home.

Many sincere thanks from the family.
