Ballard Dr BettyBALLARD, Dr. Betty Lorraine (nee Rix) Ballard   -   January 3, 1947 - June 11, 2022

It is with great sadness that the family of Betty Ballard announce her sudden passing on June 11th, 2022 at Lakeridge Health Oshawa after a short battle with colon cancer.

She is survived by her three sons, Michael (Sarah) of Bowmanville, Ontario; David (Julie) of Halifax, Nova Scotia; and Dr. Jonathan (Tiffany) of Clarenville, Newfoundland.

Her four beautiful granddaughters Addison, Abbigail, Adalynn (Jonathan) and Charlotte (David).

Her friend Susan will dearly miss her.

Remembered fondly by her family down east of five brothers Don (Betty Ann (d)), Gary (d) (Linda), Eric (d) (Sandra (d)), Ralph (Jackie) and Bob (d) (Paula).

She has many cousins, nieces, nephews and friends who will miss her visits to Nova Scotia and PEI.

Betty was born on January 3, 1947 in Halifax, Nova Scotia.

She grew up in Dartmouth and attended Dalhousie University, receiving her Doctor of Medicine (M.D.).

She moved to Ontario to start her medical career at the Oshawa Clinic.  She practiced medicine for 41 years finishing her last years at Courtice Health Centre until her retirement in 2017.

Betty spent 25 years seeing patients at the Oshawa General Hospital.

Betty thoroughly enjoyed caring for her patients, as a straight shooter and always shared a good laugh.  Betty enjoyed golf, participating in the Women’s League and playing cribbage at the Delpark Seniors Centre.

There will be a Celebration of Life Ceremony, in Nova Scotia, to be planned later in the summer by her family.  She will be interred with her mother Leona Rix in Memorial Gardens, NS.

Memorial donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society or Lakeridge Health Oshawa.

Online condolences may be left at armstrongfh.ca.
