Ames GraceAMES, Grace Marie  - Passed away peacefully at Lakeridge health palliative care unit at 6:30 AM on June 15, 2018 in her 88th year.

Surrounded by loving family members, she will join her husband Donald who passed away April 28, 2018 after 62 years together.

It is with great sadness but relief that she struggles no longer.

A much loved mother grandmother and great-grandmother she will be missed by her son Scott (Heather), her daughters Linda (Ian) and Judy (Mike), and her grandchildren Zoe (Filipe), Carly (Yasser), Nicholas, Andrew, Meredith, Victoria and Jordan.

Recently acquired great-grandchildren (Bessan, Moatassem, Hassan, Maria and Bryan) who were immediately embraced as part of her family. and many nieces and nephews.

She was an extremely kind, giving woman who touched everyone she met. She was regarded as "Nonee" by all the kids (genetically linked or not). She rarely missed any game, activity or ceremony her grandchildren were involved with.

She was an extremely active woman until her health began to decline. She was an exceptional dancer, seamstress and baker (there are souls in heaven awaiting her coconut cookies).

She was active in Girl Guides of Canada as a leader and commissioner for many years and there are many young women who are for the better having known her. She loved good shoes, good books, pink flowers, and anything chocolate.

The family would like to express their gratitude to the doctors and nurses of 4F (palliative care unit) at Lakeridge health Oshawa for their care and support shown during this time. Special mention to Dr. G Martin "thank you so very much, you will not be forgotten."

Friends and family will be received at MOUNT LAWN FUNERAL HOME, 21 Garrard Rd. Whitby, (905-443-3376), on Friday June 22nd at 9:30 with a memorial service to commence in the chapel at 10:30 am. Her remains will be interred along with husband in a private family service after the service. Reception to follow.

In lieu of flowers, donations to the Alzheimer Society of Durham Region or to the Diabetes Association would be appreciated.
