MATICHUK, Marion Agnes (nee MEZGER) -
July 7, 1939 - April 13, 2024
It is with our heaviest hearts that we share the passing of our amazing mother.
Mum died of natural causes in her home, leaving her loving children, Susan, Steven (Natasha) and William and grandchildren, Fisher, Gordon, Miles, Sebastien, Oliver, Joshua, Jonathan to celebrate her memory.
From modest beginnings in Vancouver, to Victoria, Ottawa, Willowdale, Oakville and finally Burlington, Mum carried her kindness, thoughtfulness and humour with her wherever she went.
Whether on a beach in Florida or a tropical island, exploring ruins on a European holiday or filling a creel with perch and smallmouth, Mum's appreciation for the simple pleasures and beauties of life prevailed. As kids, she nurtured and protected us.
As adolescents, she supported our interests devoutly and showed us how to love the special people in our lives unconditionally.
As adults, not one of these qualities receded. Through the years she has been there for us in every way imaginable, celebrating our victories and shouldering our failures, never once asking for anything in return.
The phrase to know her is to love her has never rung truer in describing a person.
So, with broken hearts we say farewell to the most important person in our lives. Rest in peace Mum, you're the best.
We will miss you every day. Mum was laid to rest on Friday, April 19th at Fairview Cemetery, Niagara Falls.
