Duke HenryDUKE, Henry Alexander  - Passed away peacefully in his sleep at Mississauga Hospital on Thursday, December 6, 2018, in his 94th year.

Henry was the beloved husband of the late Mary Madeleine Duke (nee Markowska).

Devoted father of Randall and his wife Teresa (Webster), Gary and Chantal (Brault), Gregory and his wife Perla (de Brun) and Darren and Madeline (Long).

Cherished uncle of Richard, Glen and Julieanne Jardine.

Henry will be greatly missed by his grandchildren Justine (Lorne Anderson), Nicole (Mark Gamache) and Henry and great-grandchildren Nico and Paolo.

Son of Alexander and Julia Duke and brother of Jean (Jardine), Henry was born and raised on Queen Street West above Duke's Cycle, the store his father had established in 1914 soon after emigrating from Poland.

A WWII Veteran and a proud Canadian, Henry returned from the war in 1946 and assumed his role in the family business until he chose to retire in 2008.

Friends, family, staff and customers of Duke's Cycle will remember Henry for his dry humour, his passion for gardening and travel to far-off destinations.

A true lover of nature, those closest to Henry will cherish our memories of cottaging at Lakeview and camping in Northern Ontario.

Friends may call at the Turner & Porter Yorke Chapel, 2357 Bloor St. W., on Monday, December 10th from 4 – 8 p.m. A funeral service will be held in the chapel on Tuesday, December 11th at 11 a.m.

If desired, remembrances may be made to Covenant House.
