Kamenar SteveKAMENAR, Steve Kamenar - January 29, 1933 - June 29, 2019 - It is with sorrowful hearts that the family of Steve Kamenar announces his death on Saturday, June 29, 2019 in his 87th year at Mackenzie Health’s long-term care facility in Downsview.

Steve was born to Slavko and Jana in Selnica, Maria Bistrica, Hrvatska Zagorje on January 29th, 1933, and was the youngest of their six children.

He will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 60 years, Ljudmila (Melissa) Steinberger Kamenar, along with his son and daughter-in-law, Steve and Shirley Kamenar, and his seven grandchildren, Steven (Avery), Danielle, Kristina, Naomi, Ashton, Noah, and Nathan, and his four great-grandchildren, Paul, Robbie, Julia and Isaac.

Steve emigrated to Canada from Croatia in 1958 with little means and much ambition. Following their marriage in 1959, he and Melissa opened a successful wood-turning business in Downsview, suitably named Steve’s Woodturning Inc. At the hand of his and Melissa’s hard work and dedication, the company transitioned to furniture manufacturing. Steve’s legacy as a master craftsman continues to be carried on as the business is now owned and operated by Steve’s son and daughter-in-law, Steve and Shirley.

In honour of Steve’s life and death, visitations will be held on Tuesday, July 2 at DeMarco Funeral Visitation Centre, Woodbridge, at 2:00-4:00PM and at 6:00-9:00 PM. The funeral service will be held on Wednesday, July 3 at 11:00AM at King Bible Church, 1555 King Road, King City, with a luncheon to follow. Following the service, the family will proceed to the King City Cemetery for the interment and will return to the church to join everyone for the luncheon.

“Do not overlook this one fact, beloved, that with the Lord one day is as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day. The Lord is not slow to fulfill his promise as some count slowness, but is patient toward you, not wishing that any should perish, but that all should reach repentance.” 1 Peter 3:8-9.
