Cowan HughCOWAN, Hugh Richard - On Monday, November 23, 2020, Hugh Richard Cowan passed away from complications of a heart attack at Sunnybrook Hospital in Toronto. He would have been 63 on his birthday on December 5th.

He gave the Gift of Life to others as an organ donor.

Hugh was the son of the late Stuart and Joan Cowan (nee Staunton).

He is survived by his daughters Mackenzie and Faith and their mother Stacey Crinson, his sister Nancy and her husband Greg De Souza, nephew Jonathan De Souza (Heather), nieces Michelle De Souza, Katie Ballard (Matt), Jessie Harris (Jeremy), Beth De Souza and great nieces Rilla, Audra, Kenna, Morgan, Eva, Nora and Aggie.

Over the years, Hugh worked at his irrigation and lighting business and more recently he was enjoying working as a real estate agent. He was creative and handy with building and projects and had a keen eye for design.

He had a dry sense of humour and kept a straight face when making his interesting comments.

Hugh, Mackenzie and Faith worked together with the Canadian Ski Patrol for 5 years, enjoying the outdoors. They were known as “The Cowans." Hugh loved to sail and to spend time with the family up north at cottages.

Hugh had a gift with children. His nephews and nieces loved spending time with him. Most of all, Hugh loved being a father. Mackenzie and Faith were the heart of his life. He will be missed so much by family and friends.

Arrangements entrusted with Taylor funeral home, Newmarket.

Those wishing to make a donation in honour of Hugh are asked to donate to the Canadian Ski Patrol.
