Hyde KenHYDE, Kenneth Arthur - Our gentle giant died with family by his side at Sunnybrook Hospital on Wednesday, March 3, 2021, at 91 years old.

He is predeceased by Shelagh Jane (nee Lawson), his wife of 47 years.

Ken will be greatly missed by his daughters Elizabeth and Joanne (Brian Gooding), grandchildren Andrew and David Spear, Jillian and Charlie Gooding and, partner Helen Hurd.

Ken has joined many family and friends who have gone before him including, our mother Shelagh, parents Gertrude and Frank, siblings Robert and Marnie, granddaughter Erin and, many friends from Winnipeg, Toronto and, Stoney Lake.

Born in Winnipeg, Manitoba on October 25, 1929, to Frank and Gertrude Hyde, Ken grew up in River Heights attending Kelvin High School, were he met many lifelong friends. Summers were spent in Minaki, Ontario where his love for cottage life began.

Ken, a lifelong volunteer, was a past Chair of the Association of Consulting Engineers of Canada, past President of the Upper Stoney Lake Association, founding member of the Banbury Community Centre in addition to numerous other community roles. His was a life well-lived.

A Celebration of Life will be held via zoom on Wednesday, March 10, 2021. Arrangements with Morley Bedford Funeral Services.

In lieu of flowers, donations, if desired, can be made in Ken’s memory to the Kawartha Land Trust.
