LISTER, Valerie Ann  -  September 29, 1953 – June 2, 2021

On June 2, 2021, the sweetest woman on earth left this mortal coil.

Valerie Ann Lister passed away at The Scarborough Hospital due to complications from multiple sclerosis.

Val was born in Vancouver, BC but she primarily grew up in Burlington, ON.

After attending Ryerson Polytechnic Institute she gained employment at Toronto Dominion Bank where she fulfilled a number of roles.

After taking early retirement she pursued her true passion, SCUBA diving, to the best of her ability.

Val was a proud and enthusiastic member of the Toronto Super Turtles and was an Assistant Dive Instructor.

Val was predeceased by her parents Robert William Lister and Joyce Beryl Eunice Lister (nee Wickstrom). Left to mourn is her spouse of 32 years Rodney Yip, sisters Carla Okuloski (Dan), Kim Lister (Matthew Okuloski) and brother Ross Lister (Penny).

Also her nephew Ian Lister, niece Helen Lister and their mom Marnie Bach. Many thanks to The Major City (not a village) of caregivers who have rallied around Val over the years.

Special thanks go to her private Personal Support Workers Alva Findlay and Gail Stewart whose conscientious and loving devotion helped her through good times and bad.

Thank you also to the coordinators at the Central East LHIN; the PSWs from Transcare, especially Dorette; the Transcare Community Dining Program, especially Diana Marrello; the nurses from St. Elizabeth's Health, the Elkie Adler MS Clinic and many others. Due to COVID restrictions, there will not be a funeral.

A private family service will be held at a later date.

If you would like to make a contribution to an organization in Val's name, please consider St. Elizabeth's Health (because where would we be without nurses) sehc.com/foundation/donate or the Toronto Zoo at wildlifeconservancy.ca.

Although Val could not speak in her latter days, she could always, always laugh and smile. Please share your smiles with those around you.
