Antonio was born on November 26, 1930 to Manuel de Melo Botelho and Gloria Ferreira in Furnas, Sao Miguel, Azores.
Antonio immigrated to Canada in April 10th, 1957, after 2 days of crossing the Atlantic Ocean by boat. He was the only graduating student of English with Frontier College in 1958 while working across Southern Ontario with CN Rail. He then took on various temporary seasonal jobs on farms and in factories.
Antonio settled in Toronto and became a general labourer under LiUNA 506 and worked over 30 years with James A. Rice Ltd., a family-run construction builder/contractor.
Antonio was predeceased by his first wife Natalia who passed away a few years after their marriage. He was also predeceased by his brothers Manuel and Jose and sisters Maria Espirito Santo of Massachusetts and sister Cristina of Sao Miguel, Azores.
Antonio is survived by Maria da Luz, his loving wife of 55 years, his children Jose and Cristina, his sister Gloria, and nephews and nieces in Toronto and Massachusetts.
Visitation and the service will be held at Cardinal Funeral Home, Toronto on September 25, 2021.
