Beatty ShirleyBEATTY, Shirley Alison (nee TYTE)    -  Passed away on Thursday, October 21, 2021 in Toronto.

Beloved wife of William Roberts Beatty (deceased August 11, 2010), and adored by her cousins John Loftus (Michelle), Sally Brady (Ron Murdoch), and John Brady, as well as by extended family of friends, Lidija Gasperlin, Mary Cordeiro, Annie Chen, Angelo Maiola, Michael Reynolds, Helen Hatton, Ron Morris Carol (John) Hethrington, Kimberly Wilson and Peter Phillips.

Shirley had ongoing and loving relationships with Gannon and Kyra Loftus as well as Robert, Veronica and Isabel Phillips.

She was the only child of Rebecca and Clifford Tyte, and graduated from Victoria College at the University of Toronto with B.A. in Fine Arts in 1951.

Art was a lifelong passion for Shirley.

Shirley was also intrepid, and as a young assistant motion picture director in the 1950s, she traveled through Africa and Asia with the United Church.

Always willing to listen to others with a warm smile, and a sharp wit and with a well-developed sense of humour.

Shirley was a wonderful, accepting and non-judgmental person who invariably looked for the best in others.

She married Bill, the love of her life, on October 1, 1968.

Both believed strongly in helping others, and had a strong and enduring commitment to charity and to the Arts, supporting such causes as Project Orbis International, Operation Smile Canada, the Toronto Symphony Orchestra, the Royal Conservatory of Music, Canadian National Ballet School, Mount Sinai Hospital Foundation and the Daily Food Bank.

A celebration of life will take place in the spring of 2022. Private interment.
