SCOTT, David Malcolm   -  On June 3, 2023, aged 89.

Our world is a duller place without David's wit, charm, humour, kindness, warmth and intellect, his love of a good political debate and his abundance of stories.

The son of an Anglican priest, he grew up all over the prairies, graduated from St. John's College, University of Manitoba, and the journalism program at Carleton University.

He was a reporter for the Globe and Mail newspaper in the late 1950s and 60s, a career he truly loved, and later director of public relations for the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Ontario.

David married Lawrie in 1968.

They raised their family in Thornhill, cottaged in Muskoka, and retired to Bracebridge and then Toronto.

In retirement, he wrote and published humorous short stories and sang with a barbershop group.

David reluctantly leaves his beloved wife of nearly 55 years, Lawrie, and the children and grandchildren of whom he was so proud, Andrea, her son Ethan; Michael, his wife Mara, their children Duncan and Isobel.

A funeral will be held Saturday, June 17th, 11 a.m., at the Church of the Redeemer, Toronto.

Donations to the Canadian Journalism Foundation would be welcome.
