BARTLETT, David John - After a long and brave battle, David passed away peacefully on Monday, January 29, 2018 at the Trillium Health Centre, Mississauga.
David will be lovingly remembered and deeply missed by his wife Christina of 59 years.
Devoted father of Fiona and Alison (Scott) and cherished grandad of Liam and Anya. He was born in London, U.K., February 3, 1927 into a large family of eight.
He was predeceased by five sisters and one brother.
David served with the British Army in India and Burma at the end of WWII. He was a keen military man and on arriving in Toronto promptly became a volunteer with the militia and became a member of the Royal Canadian Legion.
He immigrated to Canada in 1957 having been recruited by the Ontario Hydro Corporation, where he made many friends. David possessed strong principles, a passionate family man, always putting the needs of others before his own.
He leaves behind a loving sister Monica, two dear brothers-in-law John and George, a special nephew David and a large family of nieces and nephews in England.
We wish to extend our grateful thanks to the doctors and nurses at ICU at St. Joseph's Health Centre, the staff of the Heart and Stroke Unit at the Trillium Health Centre and the Cooksville Care Centre where he spent the last several happy weeks.
Friends may call at the Turner & Porter Yorke Chapel, 2357 Bloor St. W., on Thursday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Funeral Service to be held in the Chapel on Friday, February 2, 2018 at 11 a.m. Interment St. Philip's Anglican Church Cemetery.
If desired, memorial donations may be made to the Heart & Stroke Foundation or to Cystic Fibrosis Canada.
