Moretti JohnMORETTI, John Henry  -  September 21, 1935 - June 5, 2018

John passed away peacefully at his home, watching the Sports Channel, (or just as likely, a classic movie).

He is predeceased by his parents, Nicolas and Violet Moretti, sisters Teresa Cherchuk, Anne Sansone, Mary Switzer, Ida Moretti and the love of his life, for nearly 50 years, Jo-Anne Guspie.

John was estranged from daughter, Kimberley and granddaughter, Nicole.

He is survived by his stepson, Marc Guspie, and many nieces and nephews. John grew up in Toronto's west end, and in his youth, was hardworking, street-smart, and a bit of a ladies man... "The King of Ossington."

He worked most of his life for Olivetti Underwood, and retired early when they moved their operations out of Canada. In retirement, John took a part-time job with Maple Leaf Sports and Entertainment on November 23, 1996, as an usher at Maple Leaf Gardens.

When Maple Leaf Gardens closed and the Air Canada Centre opened, in February of 1999, John was front and centre at the new venue's opening. He was employed there until the time of his death.

John loved his job, loved his colleagues, but mostly loved being part of the action, witnessing the sporting events, concerts, etc. John's life took a turn, with the loss of his beloved Jo-Anne, just over two years ago. His life was not the same without her, and his existence became a struggle.

He was a hardworking and dedicated man, until his last breath. He was loved by all and will be sadly missed.

A funeral service celebrating John's life will be held at Heritage Funeral Centre, 50 Overlea Blvd., on Wednesday, June 13, 2018 at 11 a.m. A brief time of refreshments and fellowship will follow the service.
