Hood JosephineHOOD, Josephine Alice (nee Homes Tripp) Hood  -

Passed away on Monday, March 18, 2024 at Age Care Samac, at the age of 95.

Daughter of the late George and Bessie Homes. Beloved wife of the late Neil Hood (2005) and the late Arnold Tripp (1953).

Loving Mother to Ted (Kathy), Dennis (Shirley), Beth (Orv) McPhee, Mary Kim Edwards and Betsy Anne Masterson.

Dear Nana to Paul (deceased), Jason, Jodie, Allison, Josh and Neil McPhee, April, and Lucas Edwards.

Predeceased by Levi Masterson and Little Dennis Hood. Proud Nana to 12 great-grandchildren and 8 great-great-grandchildren.

Jo is the last of all her siblings, Jessie & Elwood Pearson, Margaret & Dennis Noonan, Edward Homes, Bid & Norman Mepstead. Nettie, Ed’s wife, talked and laughed with her “Sister Jo” weekly since Edwards passing.

Jo has been a long-time member of the Canadian Corps Ladies Unit since 1956 and has held many positions including many years as President and Honorary life Vice-President of the Parent Unit.

Her love of this veteran’s club has been a big part of Jo’s life. Colour Party, Nevada, Darts, working in the kitchen, worked at Fittings, Coulters, but the best job was crossing guard at E.A. Lovell PS where she received a citizen’s award for warding off a child predator who was caught and convicted.

She also liked fishing, gambling, and bingo. Her biggest love was her family. We would like to thank all of the staff at Age Care Samac for her care in her last days. Also Dr. K. Luces, her family doctor who took care of her for too many years to mention.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, March 21, 2024 from 6-8 p.m. at  ARMSTRONG FUNERAL HOME  (124 King St. E., Oshawa).

A Funeral Service will take place on Friday, March 22, 2024 at 1 p.m. in the Chapel.

Online condolences may be shared at  armstrongfh.ca .
