BLÉAU, Denis William Bléau -

1944 - 2024

With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Denis Bléau on Tuesday March 19, 2024 at Lakeridge Gardens LTC in Ajax at the age of 79 with his wife Patricia and daughters Nicole and Danielle by his side.

Denis was born and raised in Sudbury, Ontario.

After graduating from university, he played hockey professionally throughout Europe and South Africa.

When returning to Canada, he moved to the Toronto area where he married the love of his life, Patricia, after meeting on a blind date just 8 months prior.

They moved to the Durham Region to start their family, and Denis worked at École secondaire Étienne-Brûlé in North York where he taught phys-ed and coached many sports teams for almost 30 years.

For a few years after retirement, he continued as a supply teacher in the Durham Region. Later on in his retirement, Denis and Patricia enjoyed spending their summers in his hometown of Sudbury, and their winters in the Palm Springs area of California playing golf, garaging, and having happy hours with their friends.

He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

The family deeply thanks the staff at Lakeridge Gardens LTC, Thornton View LTC and Ontario Shores for their wonderful care and support. As per Denis’s request, cremation has taken place.

Donations to the Alzheimer’s Society of Durham Region would be greatly appreciated.
