Gillies Dr RichardGILLIES, Dr. Richard 'Dick'  -  On June 1, 2023, after a long and interesting life, Dick Gillies died peacefully at age 92.

Dear father of Bruce (Wendy), John, Elizabeth, and Martha (Kevin).

Proud grandfather of Steven (Miri), Merrin (Mike) and Robbie; and great-grandfather of David and Matilda.

Predeceased in 2007 by his beloved wife, Ann (nee Crain) of more than fifty years.

Treasured by his partner Geraldine Rogers, with whom he shared travels and joy in his eighties and nineties.

The only child of Jean and Ted Gillies. Dick was a pioneering doctor of gastroenterology who was known for his compassion with patients.

He enjoyed the company of lifelong friends, had a passion for poetry, painting, music and nature, and cherished fly fishing.

He was filled with a contagious optimism even during his most difficult time.

No visitation. Friends are invited to a Service of Thanksgiving at St. Andrew's Presbyterian Church, 82 Kent St., Ottawa, on Saturday, June 24 at 11 a.m., with a reception following to celebrate his life. Private family graveside service.
