Scrofano JoeSCROFANO, Giuseppe 'Joe' - (January 9, 1944October 30, 2019)

Quietly passed away after a courageous battle with cancer on October 30, 2019 at Providence Healthcare with his family by his side.

Affectionately known to others as “Pepe” and “Joe the Barber." He was born in Pachino, Syracuse, Sicily on December 8, 1943 to his late parents Francesco Scrofano and Francesca (Giamblanco). He leaves behind his wife Doreen (Neglia) of 47 years, and his children, Franc and Marie (Gabriel Sanchez).

He was an extremely proud Grandfather of Matthew, Gabrielle and Marcus. He was also honorary Grampa to Edgar, Evelyn, Andres and Alex.

Dear brother of Maria Caruso (Enrico) Corrado Scrofano (Enza). The late Antonino Scrofano(Sharron) and the late Gaetana Palazzolo (Cesare). He will be dearly missed by his many nieces and nephews.

During his teenage years he moved to Milan to train as a barber. Joe came to Canada in 1963, made Toronto his home, and worked hard at barbering. He leaves behind a 30 year partnership with Mario Fiorino of Mario and Joe’s Hairstyling, and a customer base rivaled by many. A regular patron of Quatro Amici Cafe, he was well loved for his humour and will be missed by many friends on the Danforth.

A big thank you to Dean and Rebecca with Scarborough CCAC/LHIN, nurses Patsy, Leeann, Lindsay and Rebecca for their patience and care. A very special thank you to “Painter Girl” Fatima Da Costa, nurse extraordinaire and angel for going above and beyond for the whole family when we needed you most.

Family and friends will be received at the Giffen-Mack Funeral Home, 2570 Danforth Ave., Toronto for visitation on Thursday, November 7th from 6-8pm. And on Friday, November 8th from 2-4pm and 7-9pm.

Funeral service to be held in the Giffen Mack Funeral chapel on Saturday November 9th at 11am.

Donations to the Canadian Cancer Society are appreciated.
