YAU, Paul Chao Pong - It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Paul Yau at the age of 86 on Sunday February 21, 2021 in his Markham home.
He is survived by his wife Teresa of 55 years of marriage. He will be remembered as a loving father to daughter Regina (Mauro), son Patrick (Vera) and daughter Melissa (Vimal) and grandchildren Rebecca, Joshua, Jacob, Nikhil and Avin. He was devoted to his family.
After immigrating to Canada, Paul, Teresa and baby Regina settled in Windsor, Ontario and welcomed two more children Patrick and Melissa. He was a dedicated public servant with the City of Windsor for over 27 years as a Civil Engineer in the Public Works department.
After his retirement, he enjoyed his free time reading the newspaper, helping his wife's restaurant business and taking naps.
He began his dialysis treatment at Hotel-Dieu Hospital, but then moved to Markham to be closer to his son Patrick.
The family would like to express deep gratitude to the staff in the Dialysis Unit at Mackenzie Health Dialysis Hospital for their compassionate care for the last 17 years. Prior to moving to Markham, he had been on dialysis for over 3 years.
Private funeral arrangements will be held on Saturday February 27th at Kane-Jerrett Funeral Homes, Thornhill, Ontario.
Due to COVID-19 restrictions and concerns, we are restricted to a maximum number of people for the service and burial. We are comforted in knowing how much he was loved by so many and our hearts are saddened that these difficult times prevent us from celebrating his life in the traditional way he deserves.
Live streaming will be available at https://simon.uda.bar
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Paul’s honour to the Kidney Foundation of Canada or to the Mackenzie Health Foundation.
