Doria AnnaDORIA, Anna (nee Giovane) - It is with profound sadness that the family of Anna (nee Giovane) Doria announces her peaceful passing on April 24, 2021 in Maple, Ontario at the age of 82 years old.

She will be lovingly remembered by her husband of 54 years, Antonio; Cherished mother of Raffaella (John), Frank (Enza) and Silvio (Cindy). Loving and devoted Nonna to Vanessa, Amanda, Anthony and Julianna.

Caring sister to Aurora and Luigi and predeceased by her brothers Emilio, Gemino, Ugo and Dino.

Anna will be deeply missed by her many friends and relatives.

Anna was born in San Marco Argentano, Cosenza in Calabria, Italy. She was the loving daughter of the late Silvio and Erminia Giovane. Anna lost her mother at the young age of 16 and found herself at an early path to adulthood. As a young child she immensely enjoyed reading and emerging herself in her studies at school. As a teen she worked in a Monastery helping the Catholic Nuns care for young children who were underprivileged or orphaned. It was here that her Catholic faith grew stronger

She continued her journey to self - discovery realizing in time that she wanted more than anything to have a family one day and children of her own. Anna came across the opportunity to move to Canada in 1966 where she eventually met her future husband whom she married and started a family with soon after. While raising her family, Anna worked at various jobs over the years from being a floor supervisor at a drapery plant, to a Sous - Chef at a Restaurant, to a Personal Support Worker for Seniors.

Anna had many passions in life. In addition to taking great joy in her children and grandchildren, she took pleasure in hosting family gatherings, cooking a variety of dishes, baking Italian cookies, gardening on the weekends and dedicating her time to her faith. She was actively involved in the church doing Sunday readings, singing in the choir, leading pilgrimages with other parishioners and actively participating in church events.

Anna will always be remembered for her genuineness, her kindness, her compassion and generosity. She was selfless and always giving to others with open arms. She loved to laugh and share “barzellete" (telling jokes) with others and was a great story teller. She found great joy in bringing people together and making memories.

Anna was a pillar of strength that held her family together. Her insurmountable strength was needed during the many years she suffered and battled illnesses and one that would eventually take her life. Her courage, positivity and optimism through it all despite her difficult circumstances was an inspiration to many. She suffered but fought til the end because she loved life more than anything and the people she shared it with.

Her family and friends will always remember her smile and the way she made them feel so unconditionally loved and cared for when they were with her.

Due to Covid-19 restrictions, the visitation and funeral service will be held privately with immediate family.

There will be NO OPEN PUBLIC VISITATION

Private Funeral Service Wednesday, April 28th at 1 p.m. Scott Funeral Home Chapel, Woodbridge chapel.
