ANDRIOPOULOS, Sofia - It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of my dear mother at the Toronto General Hospital, on Thursday June 3, 2021 at 10:50 am, with her son John by her bedside.
Mother leaves behind her one remaining sister Voula, sister in law Vaggelina, nieces and nephews,and daughter in law Jenny, her family and her beloved son John, who will miss her dearly as will everyone that knew Momma Sofia (as she is affectionately known as).
She was born in a village called Prokopi Evia May 23, 1944.
She loved church and Saint John the Russian whose remains are in her villages church.
Mom left Prokopi at the tender age of 13 to Athens where she worked and was taught to be a seamstress. At 20 years of age she came to Canada to be with her only brother.
She married Bill Andriopoulos soon after her arrival to Canada in 1964 and had her only son John in 1965.
Sofia (Mother) lived her life with love, compassion, fairness, laughter, generosity and full of life. She had a love for gardening, flowers and especially fishing. Sofia (Mother) would often catch 2-3 times more fish than anyone else. Sofia especially loved Jesus Christ (Church) and her family. Her devotion to both was second to none.
My mother Sofia Andriopoulos will be dearly missed and fondly remembered in our hearts forever.
Visitation will be held at Heritage Funeral Centre, Toronto on Sunday, June 13, 2021. The service will take place at All Saints Greek Orthodox Church, 3125 Bayview Ave, Toronto on Monday, June 14, 2021 at 10:00AM.
