REYES, Merlina (nee Distajo) - Passed away peacefully on Friday, July 30, 2021 at Michael Garron Hospital with her beloved husband, Mario at her side.
First daughter of the late Noe and Pastora Distajo.
Loving sister to Merlinda, Brenda, Imelda, Ceilito, Elnora, Noe, Cynthia, Noemi, Rosellen, Omega, Marivic, Luisa, Carmen, Nuera, Antoniette and Eden.
Tita/Lola (aunt/great-aunt) to countless nephews and nieces.
Merlina or Inday to her families and friends, immigrated to Canada in 1967 and begun her profession as a Registered Nurse at the Niagara-on-the -Lake Hospital.
In 1979, she married Mario and moved to Toronto to work at Doctor's Hospital.
Due to her health, she quit her profession. Throughout the years, Merlina volunteered most of her time in church and travelled around the world with Mario and friends. Merlina will be sadly missed by her families, in-laws and friends.
Visitation at the Highland Funeral Home, Scarborough on Tuesday August 3rd and Wednesday August 4th. Prayer service on Wednesday August 4 at 6:30 p.m. Due to Covid attendance restrictions a PRIVATE FAMILY Funeral Mass will be held on Thursday August 5, 2021 at 11 a.m. in Canadian Martyrs Church, 522 Plains Road. Cremation.
In lieu of flowers donations to the Lupus Foundation, Toronto Western Hospital, Cardiac Research University Health Hospital Foundation or Michael Garron Hospital would be appreciated.
