SMYTH, William Herbert  - 1935 - 2018 After several years of health challenges, Bill passed away on Saturday, June 30th surrounded by his family.

Bill is survived by his loving wife Catherine (nee Sharp), his sons David (Barbara Steed) and Paul (Nanette) as well as grandchildren Mackenzie (Derek Griffioen), Megan, Janet, Michael, Hannah and Cameron.

Born and raised in Belfast, N. Ireland, Bill followed his sister Eileen and brother-in-law Stan Cox to Canada in 1952. After several years as a draftsman, he entered OCE and qualified as a technical teacher.

Hired by the Scarborough Board of Education in 1962, Bill rapidly advanced and retired in 1994 as a Supervisory Officer.

In retirement, he enjoyed getting together with family and friends at the cottage, golf, travel and dinners with friends. Need I add the odd little tipple of Irish in there?

A celebration of Bill's life will be held on Monday, July 23rd at 11:00 a.m. at Jubilee United Church, 40 Underhill Drive with visitation on Sunday, July 22nd, 7 – 9 p.m. and Monday at 10 a.m. until time of service.

In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation in Bill's memory to the Heart & Stroke Foundation, Canadian Cancer Society, Jubilee United Church or a charity of your choosing.
