RUSSELL, John Coey Russell - Born March 17, 1952 and passed away peacefully, with family at his bedside, on June 2, 2023, after an extremely short, but courageous fight with cancer, at age 71.
Russ was a respected businessman throughout his 50-year career manufacturing and distributing baby products.
An entrepreneur and salesman at heart, Russ owned a number of businesses, the most well-known being Jolly Jumper, which he owned for the past 26 years.
Russ valued and appreciated all the staff at Jolly Jumper who helped to make this iconic brand successful. Although Russ enjoyed his work, his true success was his family.
He was a loving husband of 49 years to his highschool sweetheart, Judy and always put her, his children and his grandchildren above everything.
Russ was a fiercely loyal friend, great protector of his family and a genuinely kind man to everyone he met.
Russ always looked forward to a game of golf with his Islington Golf Club buddies as well as dinner, a glass 'or two' of wine and conversation afterward.
Survived by his wife, Judy; son, John Coey (Lucinda); daughter, Shannon Coey-Williams (Justin); grandchildren, Calvin, Lola, Cooper, Ella and Leo; and many nieces and nephews.
Predeceased by his father, John McDowell Coey; mother, Irene Coey; brother, David Coey; and sister, Jacqueline Findlay.
A Celabration of Life in Russ' honour will be held on Sunday, September 10, 2023 at Islington Golf Club, 45 Riverbank Drive in Etobicoke, from 2 to 5 p.m.
